Let's take a brief tour of the city of Brazil and some of its sights.

This welcome sign is at the corner of National and Forest Avenues, which is the junction of US Highway 40 and State Road 59.

Brazil has several beautiful parks.  George Craig park is named for Indiana Gov. George Craig, who was from Brazil.

The lake at Craig park is used for fishing and just relaxing

The Craig Park waterfall is where a scenic nature trail begins

Brazil's history of brick making is shown here with paving bricks around
the flag pole at Craig Park.  The original bricks at the Indianapolis 500
were made in Brazil.  We have several old brick streets still in existence.
Brick Craft, a relatively new brick making factory,
sits about 10 miles south of Brazil.  Our clay soil is ideal for making bricks.

The pool at Forest Park keeps people cool all summer long

The 18 hole Forest Park Golf Course was designed by Pete Dye and is considered one of the best in the area.

There are many shelters in Forest Park, used for picnics and many other occasions.  In December the shelters are all decorated and lit up at night for people to enjoy, coordinated by Brazil Christmas in the Park.

The historic band shell is used by the 150 year old Brazil Concert Band every Sunday night during the summer months, attracting thousands of people.

These historic cabins were moved to the park, used originally by some of Clay County's original settlers.

This historic Pavilion, built in the 1930s, is used regularly for many events.  Prior to the construction of the Clay County Fairgrounds south of Brazil, this facility was used for animal exhibits.  Many locals affectionately still refer to this facility as the "Cow Palace."

This beautiful wooden bridge crosses a ravine at the entrance to Forest Park.

The Fountain in the background was provided by Brazil's Sister City in Southern Brasil.  The people in front are representing Rotary Clubs in Brasil, visiting Brazil, IN in April of 2008.
